inXile Entertainment, a Newport Beach based game development company, announced that it will be converting the free online version of their game Line Rider from Adobe Flash to the new Microsoft Silverlight format.
Line Rider is a relatively simple game. The player draws lines on a screen, clicks the play button and then watches a little character on a sled ride the lines. The game became a web sensation and this summer, an adaptation called Line Rider 2: Unbound will be released for Wii and Nintendo DS.
According to the Line Rider website, the new format will offer “a more consistent frame rate during playback” and “a faster, smoother version of the game.” However, according to a comparison on a discussion board on the Silverlight website, the two media players will perform “nearly the same.”
