Readers have been leaving tributes all day to honor Ezra Chatterton, the 12-year-old World of Warcraft fan who has left us too soon. Now, we hear from Blizzard Entertainment.
Kacy Dishon, the Blizzard media official who helped arrange Ezra’s initial wish-granting session through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, was very saddened by the news. She says:
Meeting with Ezra was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve had at Blizzard, and I am extremely grateful for the time that I was able to spend with both he and his father. We would like to offer the message below to Ezra’s family from everyone at Blizzard:
“All of us at Blizzard Entertainment were saddened to hear the news of Ezra’s passing. His passion, strength, and creativity are a constant source of inspiration to us, and we are all enriched from having known him. We’re very fortunate to have met Ezra, and we hope his family will soon find solace in the wake of this tragedy.“
Earlier today, we posted the tribute that Ezra’s father, Micah, wrote to his son. Read it at “A father’s tribute to Ezra, the World of Warcraft fan with brain cancer.”
Even after death, Ezra continues to have a strong effect on people everywhere.

Maybe Blizz an put a statue of Ephoenix in the game by the bridge in Bloodhoof, near Ahab - the tauren who gives the quest Ezra designed. That would be a good tribute I think.

I just learned about you and your son Ezra, onl;y beacuse all Blizz servers were down ( again..sigh ) …more mess preparing for th Litch i guess..lol. THEN i met you both, Fate ? Yes, of course. I read every article…..then cried for an hour. My heart aches for you both as i can only imagine a fraction of the pain , loss and anger you must endure.
I am so very sorry Ezra was called home now, but the lessons he was here to teach us all, i think, was something only he could do. What an awsome soul, always was an Earth Angel, wasn’t he ? I am grateful to have met him now, indirectly thru WoW. I never expected to learn so much from a game, been on a year now. I have two sons, and we LOVE our WoW…amazing that so much love, bonding, learning from each other ( ya i;m the nwb..lol )….and just having a good, laughing, silly , make fun of each others weaps/gear….kind of time.
I am going to have my sons read about Ezra, i;m going to e-mail 1 article at a time….and i’m not going to tell them about Ezra’s Memorial.
They will know when they get to this page…the last one, opposite of the way i learned about Ezra. We have been ‘difficult’, as parents/kids will be…but petty things that will pass, even if they cant see that now.
You and Ezra….and yes, i guess Blizz too, have made it so easy to see beyond all the cluttering junk, and just LOVE. I’m going to hug them so hard, they’re such good boys, i love them so. One of my sons had Emergency Brain Surgery last june…i was told he has a 70% chance of the infection returning, within 3 yrs, but will be harder to fight if it does. I was so scared, i know it must be nothing compared to how scared you were…i just want to say i am offering any help i can to you, although i don’t know what to offer to make anything better. Please call me, for anything. We could do a quest, fly a kite, or go break a bunch of used dishes from a 2nd hand store, anything to help you feel almost whole again. My prayers are with you and Ezra, may you find comfort with the love and peace Ezra left us all.

I just learned about your son and the light he shone in this world and how it was extinguished to soon. Like many others i want to thank him for sharing his light with us and like all those people i weep because I am no longer able to. My sarrow and anger at this tragedy go out to you and your family. I truly hope that you will be able to find peace and happiness again and that Ezra will look down on you and let you feel the joy of living he felt every day. I know i will try to live by his example and live by it each and every single day.
